چکیده

T HE discovery of so-called ‘ ‘incomplete’ ‘ or ‘ ‘blocking’ ‘ antibodies and of thermostable agglutinins reacting in serum or albumin but not in saline has stimulated discussion and speculation on their relation to each other and to the previously known Rh agglutinins which react in saline solution, and more recently on their relation to the various forms of fetal erythroblastosis. The problem of the nature of the various forms of Rh antibody is one to be solved by immunologic and immuno-chemical methods. The second problem, of the respective role of the antibodies in the genesis of the different forms of the disease may be brought closer to solution by qualitative and quantitative study of antibodies during pregnancy and correlation with the condition of the newborn infant. This report aims to present the results of such a compatative investigation. It is based on a study of the titres of Rh antibodies (saline agglutinins, serumalbumin agglutinins, and blocking antibodies) in the blood of 73 mothers of rythroblastotic infants or fetuses. In most instances repeated blood samples were obtained at intervals during the pregnancy and after childbirth. In some cases tests extended over several years. Ten women had only one sample examined, but the average number for the remaining 63 women was 4. 5 samples. The technic of the various tests was essentially the same as described by Wiener and by Diamond. It was presented in detail in a chapter on blood groups in the forthcoming new edition of Kracke and Parker’s ‘ ‘Clinical Pathology. ‘ ‘

Evaluation of an immunoblotting test based on whole tachyzoite lysate for diagnosis of humoral response of domestic cats infected with Toxoplasma gondii, Rh strain

This study was aimed to detect anti-Toxoplasma gondii antibodies in cats infected with Rh strain of T. gondii by using an immunoblotting method. For this, cats were experimentally infected using tachyzoites harvested from Vero cell cultures. Tachyzoites were then lysed and transferred to polyacrylamide gels followed by blotting to PVDF membranes. An immunoblotting was performed using these mem...

Association of white cell and red cell antibodies in human sera.

Five hundred and eighteen human sera containing known red cell antibodies were tested for lymphocytotoxic antibodies and 81 sera were found to contain them. Thirty-nine antibodies were fully characterized. The frequencies of anti-I, K, V(w), and Wr(a) were significantly greater in those of the 518 sera which also contained white cell antibodies.Four hundred and ninety-four of the 518 sera conta...

Correlation between neonatal calf diarrhea and the level of maternally derived antibodies

Passively acquired antibodies through colostrum will protect calves against etiological agents of neonatal calf diarrhea. Among them enteric diseases due to strains of Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) are the most commonly occurring form of colibacillosis in newborn calves. Specific antibodies against whole ETEC cells and total immunoglobulin G in dam serum, colostrum and calf serum were...

Clinical study of the relationship between prenatal antibody titer and hemolytic disease of newborn

Hemolytic disease of newborn (HDN) is caused by the emergence of inappropriate antibodies against fetal blood antigens, which includes ABO and Rh blood group incompatibility. This study investigated the association between prenatal blood group antibody titer and HDN to provide a theoretic basis for clinical practice. ABO and Rh blood group of 7894 pregnant women and their husbands were screened...

Evaluation of Humoral Immune Response of Cats to the Experimental Infection with the different Clonal Types of Toxoplasma gondii by Measurement of IgG Antibodies

Toxoplasma gondii is one of the most prevalent parasitic infections in world. Rh, NED and Me49 are of the most prevalent clonal types of the parasite isolated till now. Differences in pathogenicity and virulence of different types have been investigated in different studies. No controlled study was performed to compare the ability of different types to initiate humoral immune response. We inves...
